Services Offered

Adult & Senior Eye Exams

Our comprehensive exams provide updated prescriptions and early health screenings to ensure optimum vision for your career, your hobbies, and every moment spent with family and friends.

Children’s eye exams

Healthy vision is key to how children learn and explore. Since 80% of learning is visual, regular eye exams are essential to help your child reach their full potential.

Ocular Disease Management

With specialized focused eye care for conditions like diabetes, glaucoma, and cataracts and other eye conditions, we monitor changes and provide personalized treatment to protect your vision and long-term eye health.

Dry Eye Management

Dry eye is a common condition that happens when your tears aren’t able to provide enough moisture or protection for your eyes. Without a healthy layer of tears, your eyes lose their natural shield, leading to discomfort and vision changes.

Refractive & Cataract Surgery Co-management

Thinking about vision surgery can be a big step. Whether you’re considering LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL (refractive surgery) or need cataract surgery, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Emergency Eye Care

Certain ocular emergencies (eg. sudden flashes, floaters, eye pain, red eye, eye injury or trauma) are time sensitive and if ignored, can lead to vision loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

OHIP covers routine eye exams for:

  • 19 and under: one exam every year

  • 20–64: one exam per year only for specific medical conditions

  • 65 and older: one exam per year for specific conditions, otherwise every 18 months

Typically, 20-30 minutes without dilation, and 45-60 minutes with dilation, and depending on initial issues/findings.

What do I need to prepare & bring with me?

  • Current eye glasses (remove soft contact lenses at least 24 hrs before exam, hard contact lenses at least 48hrs before exam)
  • Valid up-to-date OHIP card
  • Insurance health benefit card
  • List of medications
  • Sunglasses
  • Driver, if needed

As part of the comprehensive eye exam, all adults are recommended to have their eyes dilated with eye drops. Children generally do not receive dilating drops at every visit unless there is an indication for this. The most common side effect is blurred near vision and light sensitivity, lasting approximately 3–4 hours. It is recommended that you bring your sunglasses and preferably a driver if you haven’t had your eyes dilated in the past.
