We are happy to announce that optometrists are now permitted for a gradual return to non-urgent eye care. Please stay tuned for our office re-opening date as we finalize implementing our guidelines. We will be working hard to schedule patient appointments as soon as possible. COVID-19 has changed the way our office will operate, and we are taking necessary precautions for the safety of our staff, our patients, and our community. Therefore, we have made some significant changes to our protocol and hope you will take the time to review them prior to your visit.
Some of the new procedures that will be in effect will be:
Patients will be pre-screened by telephone and/or by email before their appointments for symptoms of COVID-19, travel history and contact with ill people.
All staff will be similarly screened and anyone unwell will not be working in the office.
Please understand your insurance coverage (if applicable) ahead of time
When you arrive by appointment only, please stay in your vehicle or outside and call us to let us know you have arrived. Do not come in until asked to.
When asked to come in, please leave all handbags, food items outside in your vehicle
Only patients with appointments will be permitted into the office (very young children and special needs patients may be accompanied by 1 adult who will need to be screened as well). To facilitate communication, we suggest that patients bring a mobile telephone to their appointment so that treatment information can easily be relayed to parents directly from the clinic.
Please arrive with your own face mask covering BOTH YOUR NOSE & MOUTH--THIS MANDATORY
– You will be asked to sanitize your hands as soon as you arrive. This is mandatory.
If possible, please use your personal washroom facility prior to coming into the office to avoid further unneeded exposure
All persons entering the building will be required to wear a mask or a face covering (mouth and nose) and will be screened once again. Please cooperate.
Our coffee station and magazine stands station will be closed.
We ask that you do not speak during your appointment unless asked, to limit airborne transmission.
Privacy—we will keep the exam room door open during the course of the exam to increase airflow. If you have any concerns, please make it know before your appointment.
In our pretest room and exam room we have installed Germ Guardian Air Purifiers that feature true HEPA Charcoal Filters and UV-C Light technology for added safety. The HEPA Filter captures 99.97% of dust and allergens as small as .3 microns such as household dust, pet dander, mold spores and plant pollens. The UV-C light technology kills airborne bacteria, viruses, germs and mold spores.
Appointments will be scheduled farther apart to promote social distancing. We will be seeing fewer patients per hour. This will allow us to thoroughly disinfect contact surfaces and equipment in between patients. We are doing our best to keep you safe. Please understand that we will no longer be able to pack our schedule tightly to see the majority of our patients after school. This is the new reality that has been forced upon us to keep everyone safe.
Please get in touch with us if your contact information (including email address, cell phone) has changed.
